Progress Update: From Foundation to Insulation

Lisa BB · November 29, 2022 · Leave a Comment Filed Under: Home and Garden

In my blog to date, I’ve been talking about paint colours, tiles, lighting and the inspiration for our home build; but, it’s probably high time I did at least a partial reveal of our actual home build. I know there are a few of you who’ve been asking. So, you’ll find a pictorial evolution below from raw land to laying the foundation, framing the house, putting up the roof trusses, installing the beautiful windows, building the retaining wall, getting the roofing tiles up, and starting to add the insulation.

Our beautiful lot
The foundation is in!
It’s starting to feel real
Framing is up

Roof trusses went up super quick
Roof tiles delivered and roofing is in progress
Delivery of our Cape Cod style windows
Insulation almost complete!
Concrete Floors are down and windows are up
Finishing up insulation
This retaining wall levels up the yard making it more useable and ready for our container gardens

What comes next?

Our builder guesstimated that the house would be complete for move-in at 8 months, with the caveat that there could be some delays during the roofing phase. That’s just the risk of building during a pandemic. As of the date this blog is published, we’re 10 months in to the build. Most of the siding and trim are complete; however, there is still a bit to be done on the rear of the house, followed by exterior paint. While that’s in progress, the last of the insulation gets finished up in the interior, followed by drywall. Then, we enter the next big phase of the project — interior cabinetry, moulding, flooring, tiling, interior painting etc.
