Macramé Wall Art from Vancouver Island — Shoreline at Rest, Now Available

ostrowadmin · March 24, 2026 · Leave a Comment Filed Under: Art & Home Decor, Fibre Practice

There is a particular quality of light on Vancouver Island in winter — low and soft, the kind that turns the water silver and makes the shoreline feel quietly suspended. It was a walk at Goose Spit that inspired this piece of macrame wall art -- Vancouver Island's coastline distilled into fibre, knot, and driftwood. Shoreline at Rest began there. This piece is among the largest works I have created in the studio — a scale I return to rarely outside of custom commissions. At 58 inches wide and 42 inches tall, it commands a wall the way …

Meet a Fibre Artist from Vancouver Island

ostrowadmin · January 2, 2026 · Leave a Comment Filed Under: Fibre Practice

There’s something about living on Vancouver Island that quietly shapes the way you create. The pace is slower. Nature is always close. Light shifts throughout the day, and the landscape is never static — coastlines, forests, gardens, and ocean views all overlapping in subtle ways. For me, these surroundings are not just a backdrop to my work; they are a constant influence on how I think about texture, colour, and form. My work is rooted in slow, tactile processes and the natural landscapes of the island. My name is Lisa, and I’m a fibre …

Snowy Mountain Cap Textured Macrame Wall Hanging on Vancouver Island

Calm, modern interiors are often defined by restraint. Clean lines, neutral palettes, and thoughtfully chosen materials create spaces that feel intentional rather than busy. But when a room becomes too minimal, it can start to feel flat or impersonal. Fibre art is one of the most effective ways to introduce softness and warmth into modern interiors and texture plays an essential role. Texture introduces depth, warmth, and a quiet sense of life into modern spaces — without disrupting their simplicity. It allows a room to feel complete, …

Decorating with Neutral Macramé Wall Art

ostrowadmin · November 30, 2025 · Leave a Comment Filed Under: Fibre Practice

Neutral interiors have a quiet confidence. Soft whites, warm creams, stone, sand, and muted greys create spaces that feel calm, balanced, and timeless. When thoughtfully layered, these palettes allow texture — rather than colour — to take centre stage. That’s where neutral macramé wall art shines. Rather than competing for attention, neutral fibre art adds depth, warmth, and movement, gently grounding a space while allowing the room to breathe. Why Neutral Macramé Works So Well in Modern Homes Modern interiors often rely on clean …

Why Handmade Fibre Art Is Worth Investing In

ostrowadmin · November 30, 2025 · Leave a Comment Filed Under: Fibre Practice

In a world filled with fast trends and mass-produced decor, handmade fibre art offers something increasingly rare: presence, intention, and longevity. These pieces aren’t designed to fill space — they’re created to belong in it. For homeowners who value thoughtful design and meaningful objects, investing in handmade fibre art is less about decoration and more about creating a home that feels layered, personal, and enduring. More Than Decor: A One-of-a-Kind Presence Unlike factory-made wall art, handmade fibre art is inherently …
